I agree with Turkle’s argument that cellphones and texting are changing the way people talk face to face. When two people are having a conversation, and the conversation stops, both people normally resort to their phone for comfort or because they are bored. I also think that texting and meeting knew people online is a great way to get to know each other, but it does make it a little awkward when you first meet. My counterargument is that especially through video games, people become really good friends. You aren’t talking to them face to face, but you can still hear their voice and have great conversations. Some of my best friends came from playing video games with them, late nights, playing COD or Fortnite really brings people together and make great friendships.
I think that the use of cellphones in todays world will soon fade, I think that VR and talking to people through video games is going to take over so that people aren’t always on their phone. I know when I get really into a game, I don’t touch my phone for hours and just have fun playing with the boys.
